More on Biodiesel

It turns out the EPA did a study of biodiesel emissions. You can find the doc here: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/models/analysis/biodsl/p02001.pdf

I read/skimmed most of it and it seems like the findings are that biodiesel is basically a wash when it comes to emissions compared to regular US dino diesel. They specifically didn't study California diesel which I'm assuming is cleaner than most. Where biodiesel loses its advantage in overall emissions it is due to the fact that biodiesel produces less power per gallon than dino diesel. This means you burn more of it to get the same amount of power and thus its slight advantage in emissions is wasted.
